Hospital Acquired Pneumonia

HAP is development of new radiographic changes with evidence of infection after >72 hours of hospital admission.

Most Common cause is pulmonary aspiration. The upper airways become colonised with gram negative bacteria (75% of people within 48 hours)

Influenced further by broad spectrum antibiotics and compromised sterility of the upeer G.I tract
